The Federal Council has taken measures to cushion the economical consequences of the spread of COVID-19 for individuals and companies. Parents, quarantined persons and the self-employed are entitled to compensation for loss of earnings in Switzerland.

Who is entitled to compensation?

Self-employed persons who have had to close their business due to the federal law (Art. 6 Para. 2 COVID-19 Ordinance 2) or who suffer loss of earnings due to the ban on events.


Parents with children under the age of twelve who have to stop working because the child’s childcare is no longer guaranteed.


People who have to stop working due to a quarantine measure.

There is no registration deadline and the benefit is paid retrospectively every month. First payments are expected in mid-April.
